The butter box

Although this paper box was only 8.5×11″ Buttercup felt compelled to cram her enormously fluffy mass inside it .

I sketched this in pencil while she slept and then re-drew it in pen. I like the gestural sumi feeling of the pen strokes. I also like the fact that when I re-drew this it was a quiet Saturday morning. Everyone in the house was asleep (cats included). And I had the pleasure of periodically looking up from my drawing table to the bird feeder outside – now serving (what seems like) 1,ooo finches, chickadees, titmice and some jays.
