This little painting was inspired by a friend who is working on opposites (below/above). She’s been making collages about water (above/below the surface) and music (treble and bass clef).  I suppose it stuck with me. As a result, I’ve been thinking a lot about what’s going on below the ground. Flower bulbs I had forgotten about are now stretching skyward and ready bloom. And my sturdy little beets and leeks have survived a November planting, bearing tiny little nuggets from under the surface.
